Hi,
Just a quick question for you mortgage brokers. I'm not posting this to get business. I'm just doing some research.
1) How many of you have a website?
2) If you do, how well do you rank for local searches in the likes of Google? ie.... mortgage broker in essex.
3) Do you get any leads / business from your website?
Thanks
Andy

Sarkin,
Yes, you have achieved good rankings there. Noticed that you were getting into the SEO side of things towards the end of last year. You doing this consistantly? Noticed that you have one letter that isn't capitalised on your index page header title which may help slightly if you made it uppercase... also I have noticed that you are still using downpipes instead of comas? Are you splitting your strategy between all the search engines? As commas work better for Google. Saying that, if it ain't broke, don't fix it right. When I achieve top rankings, I don't like to tweak things too much. Just done analysis on your website. You've got quite a few backlinks there. Well done.0 -

downpipes you are so right, I have been doing loads of work on the 2nd keyword in the meta title and nada.
Thankyou for the pointer will change it asap

No problem. Have you been doing much deep linking into your site too? You will be able to see by your stats, which pages your visitors land on. If it is mainly your home page, then get some good quality links to your inner pages for their specific keywords. The more 'prominent' doorways you have within your site, the better.
Tell me to shut up if ya want. I dare say you will know all this. It's just that so many people just concentrate on their homepage, and forget about ranking well for their other pages.

I just started deep linking 2 weeks ago, I have used free and some high pr6 paid.
I am going to get my web guy to instal joomla so I can go for the long string keywords and then deeplink to them.
I use google webmaster tools and a link checker, I also use analytics to see who is landing on my site, where they came from and most importantly what they typed.
I was going to do some social bookmarking but I dont get it yet.
I have done some article submission's but not much success.
Are you an seo guy? you seem switched on0 -
Yes, i've been studying and practicing SEO for the last few years. Although, I will be now doing SEO and website marketing as a full time roll.
You say you haven't had much success with article marketing.. in what way? I have noticed you have an article on ezinearticles. That's a good site to get backlinks from. When you submit, are you just writing one article and submitting it to loads of different article directories? Or are you submitting one unique article per directory? There are ways of building a volume of content and creating unique articles from it. If done correctly, they will not get caught by the duplicate content filter, and therefore your backlinks will count.
Have you done much blogging? I've noticed that you have a good backlink from a myspace blog.

I found the broker blog when snooping around as you do.
I had a guy in Thailand do the article submission, according to google I have 2 articles loged out of 40 submission, oh well $40 down the drain. I still have the spread sheet so maybe I should do it my self. I addedd the article to my blog to avoid duplicate content.
Someone told me that ezinearticles use nofollow tags, well that must be wrong if you found my link.0 -
Andy, my Dad recently built my site and if you Google 'mortgages town name' I come up around 5th on the first page and have remained there since the site went live in March - not bad eh!
I kept getting all these sales calls where EVERY firm guaranteed they and they alone had the secrets to SEO, for example a common line is that they have bought all the key words for my area from Google auctions.
The reason I chose to DIY is I was suspiscious of all the claims that every firm who calls holds the secret that no other firm has! Also I laugh when they say they will get me to the top, yet they presumably say this to there other 100 sales calls every day - we cant all be at the top!0
