Received a letter from these "people" today, demanding 97.57 for a former EON bill from my previous address. I am sure I paid this when I moved, as I paid all the other final bills that came through, but EON have no record of this and now I'm being chased by BCW.
I've agreed to pay it back in 3 monthly installments after being bullied into it on the phone (is it really true I can only have three months to pay it when it reaches that stage?!!)
They refer to previous correspondance when we have had none and use very aggressive language in the letter (plus lots of bold type, capital letters and red ink!)
Has anyone else had dealings with these muppets and have I done the right thing setting up a direct debit?!!
We didn't plan for this debt so its come as quite a suprise....feeling really down as we were working so hard and doing really well.
Back to square one and no better off than last month

Tigger, please no.
Please do not set up DDs with a DCA, ever, as they can then nick the whole amount in one go and wreck your budget.
And even if it was EON, they are required to prove in writing that you owe the money, not just to bully you.
Please cancel that DD and refuse to talk to them again until you have taken proper advice. Speak to NDL, CCCS, or CAB.
Finally, the three months stuff is rubbish. It just means that you pay them the whole whack before you realise that you should not have paid anything. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
thanks i agreed to set up but haven't signed anything. can they take it with no signature?0

This lot are a bunch of crooks had them send a letter to my girlfriends daughter demanding money for a very old 02 bill (she has been out of the country a good 5 years and they only sent the letter last year!)
I wrote to them telling them in no uncertain terms that they have no rights to demand anything without first having proved the debt. I also said from my examination of the net they have an apparent habbit of claiming to be officially sent by someone when they are no such thing.
I also wrote to 02 asking what was going on as no correspondence had ever been received and if they can prove the debtr it will be settled.
02 eventually came through with the proof but cancelled the debt due to the problems we had and given that she is now a citizen of the US and not resident in the UK.
Contact Eon and complain about this firm see if that helps you, but do it in writing and keep a copy.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0
