  • Hi, (poorandindenial)
I love your name....thanks for the link I will have a look through. I do feel like it is a new start, even if it is going to take 20 years!! I only have £105 a monthto pay towards my debts, but guess that won't be the case for ever and it only means by the time the mortage is paid my debt will be too.

you will get phone calls from some creditors asking to pay, scary at first but you get immune to it :D
105 quid is more than enough and if anyone takes you to court the judge will always side with you and make you pay what is affordable (like what your doing now)
i have been on a DMP for nearly 2 years now and i gotta say with the exception of a few snotty phone calls its gone swimmingly.

as situations change you may be at a place where you can offer a bit more to your plan and then see the years come off the total :j

so good luck, chin up and keep smiling.

Good luck. It does all settle down after a while. We have been on our DMP with CCCS for over a year now and it has taken so much stress off us. If at any time things get tough get back on to your counsellor and they will help you. Jacqui
  • Thanks Jac/Norm, that is reassuring to hear.

Mine is also going to take 20 years to clear.
I was also very scared when I set up my DMP, and was soo down about ADMITTING I had a problem. Well done you for taking control of your spending. I know the feeling you're going through, but if I'm honest... its the best thing I did. I now have money for food and petrol - which used to on my credit cards each month. I have my priority bills paid and Payplan get the rest. I feel a little more secure now I'm with Payplan (if that makes any sense) as my mother in law is going through money issues, and worrying about where their money is going. I do not have that worry as I know exactly where every last penny of mine is going.

In time, you'll be relieved you did this. You have money for your essentials again.

Just checking, you say "Debtline" that is National Debtline and not Debtline Direct?

    Hi Ruby,

Glad to hear all is going well with your DMP so far. I only have about £10000 worth of debt (only! she says) but it's spread across about 10 creditors. They haven't all accepted my the lower payments yet and some of them have been really unusually quiet but it is a relief. You can only afford to pay what you've got and that will have to be good enough. There's not a lot anyone can do about it is there. I'm only paying £103 a month which as amazing as I used to pay that to one creditor alone every month. It is such a relief and I am excited too. I actually cried with relief when I got my pack through from CCCS.

I hope it all goes well for you and look forward to your new future.

    Hi Ruby
Glad you are getting it sorted. You will feel much better once you are up and running with the DMP. I've been on mine with the CCCS since the beginning of the year and I do still get a few nasty phone calls but I just ignore them now and they don't worry me any more.

I'm certainly a lot more relaxed now and starting to get on with my life rather than worrying about money all the time.

Good luck and do keep posting and keep us updated. You'll feel find a huge weight lifted.
