well lets say it takes 14 days to get the surplus (say around £800 ) returned

If an error is made by the organisation or your bank or building society, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid

Is it normal for conveyancers to write saying the funds shortfall should be in the account prior to completion date only to send you the letter and documentation on the completion date without bothering to phone at all?0
