been advised write letters to creditors including bank while out of work,
My only worry is when I get work again which bank will give me an account, probably one with no overdraft, if I have defaulted on an overdraft as I must have one for wages etc to be paid into?

Most banks do some sort of basic account... the only one I really know about is the coop cashminder (online banking, visa electron, DD's and SO's and no credit facilities) which is fine for me and have had no complaints. (they give them to bankrupts so someone with bad credit should have no probs getting one)
Someone else may advise a different one but I can only comment on the one I know
:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
most banks will let you have a basic bank account where you will just get a cash card to use in a machine - some will allow standing orders / direct debit to be set up.
Some of the ones that our clients have been able to get set up are Nationwide, CO-OP, Halifax, Abbey National.
You will have to go into each one and ask for it.I am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0 -
Nat West Step Account. You can apply online. Solo card, no cheque book or overdraft, you can pay in salary and have DD's and SO's.
