1 1/4 cup of warm milk, 1 lightly beaten egg, 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 tsp salt, 3 3/4 cups strong white flour, 1 1/2 tsp yeast. Put everything in your breadmaker and use the "dough" setting.

When BM is finished, roll out dough on floured surfaced about 1cm thick. Cut into rounds and then cut a hole out of each round. I use an old tuna tin and then do the whole with the end of an icing nozzle. Put dough rings on floured tray/plate and cover with clean tea towel. Leave to rise for 30 mins.

Heat oil in deep pan. Gently lower the doughnuts individually into oil and cook for 1 1/2 mins per side, I find it easiest to use skewer to turn them and remove thme from pan. Drain on kitchen paper and roll in caster sugar mixed with cinnamon whilst hot. Or leave to cool and ice with chocolate or glace icing and hundreds and thousands.
I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....

Oh, you lot make it complex dont you!

Heat up oil till its hot enough ( the light will tell you )

make up a batter mix as if you are making pancakes

Take a large spoonful of batter, drop it in with appropriate implement create hole in middle. Within a min or so it will look right. Take it out put on kitchen paper then dust with sugar & cinamon.

    Eat.

But be very careful, hot oil is very dangerous indeed
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • Oooh! Those both sound nice! lynzpower, what you're describing sounds more like a "funnel cake" which is a major treat at carnivals/street festivals in the States. You pour batter through a funnel into the hot oil, which makes a a doodle-ey shape, then roll it in icing sugar. I think I'll try making those before I make the proper donuts. (Thanks, Noozan.)
