The Basingstoke Adams closed about a year ago - very annoying. The closing down sale was brilliant though - got loads of things for £1 and a winter coat for £3-ish.
  • Aberdeen and Elgin branches both still open only offers seem to be the normal sort of sale items and buy one get one half price on selected items

They don't appear to be closing down the business, as a quick trawl picked up a recruitment advert for a Commercial Finance Manager for Adams, which was only posted on 28/9/05.

Also an ad for an Assistant Buyer on 19/9/05.

    Maybe they are going web-based.

Or, as they already have concessions in Littlewoods branches, are they they moving into those, given that all Littlewoods stores will all be closing soon???

More surfing.... they're obviously not going anywhere: From their website:

"Our existing Meadowhall store, located in High Street will be closing on Sunday 25th September, and our new store will be relocating to Park Lane, and will open on Monday 17th October."

It would appear that the stores which are closing are being transformed into their new store concept??

  • We found Adams to be expensive and that's also after using the Nectar vouchers.I'll stick to Primark,Tesco and Asda.Want a bargain for a £1.There's plenty in the year from these stores.Adams good riddance.
  • This is the reply to the email:

Unfortunately the stores that have closed are because the rent/lease renewal is so high we are unable to keep them open. We still have over 200 stores trading, however we hope to introduce a on line web site next Month although it will only sell toys initially.
