Hi everyone,
I am a working single mum, and i have been trying to pay off a loan, 2 credit cards and an overdraft for what feels like forever. Constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul.
I got in my situation when i spilt up with my partner and used credit cards to fund house furnishings, i didnt overspend - i lived without a cooker for 2 years until i could afford to buy one.
Ever increasing interest and minimum payments plus more if i had it, have made a dent, but im tired of fighting just to keep my head above water.
I've taken advice today, i have another bank account all ready to go, all my incomings have been changed to go into the new account, my essential direct debits are set up to go out and ive just been to the bank to withdraw as much as i can of my old overdraft - i expect to do this for 3 days and pay it into the new account.
I will then send in my SOA for payplan or CCCS to start a DMP on my behalf.
It's scary but i feel like a weight has been lifted.
Im posting really i suppose just for a bit of support and advice from anyone in case there is anything i have missed - thanks for reading !

Hi Debbie,
Congratulations on your light bulb moment :j . We've all had them! Good news on contacting CCCS, they will definitely put you on the right path. It's always a good idea to post your SOA on here so that the good people can see where you can cut costs and give you ideas for upping you income. You're in the right place.

Hi, well done for contacting CCCS, I couldn't go on a DMP as buried my head in the sand and let it get so bad I have 2 CCJ's against me. I'm a single working Mum too, only 3 days a week but it all helps. Just wanted to wish you luck really and glad you feel as tho a weight has been lifted.... good luck xx"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Hi Debbie
You and I are in the same boat, I too am about to start a DMP but with my OH. I am scared about it but pleased that we are finally facing up to reality.
Good luck, perhaps we can support each other as we move through this process. The good you do comes back to you.DFW Long haul supporters No: 134
