DMP and Employers - any issues?

Hello, Newbie, been watching for a while decided it was time to break the silence, here goes......

Anyone had any problems from their employer once they've taken on a DMP. Getting close to taking the leap but I am worried about my employer or future employer finding out.

Work in Financial services of all places, so checks are done during initial interview, but wondered if anyone has suffered in any way.

    Hi SC,

Is it company policy to carry out regular credit checks on you once you have joined the company? With any non financial company I don't think there's anyway that they can check. What does it say in your contract about credit checks etc?

  • I work in the Financial Sector as well and as far as I am aware the only time you have to inform your employers is if you are or have bee bankrupt, mine certainly don't know about my dmp I've had for 18 months and I've never been asked to give any information regarding my private financial affairs.

Thanks for the feedback, my contract says they can check anytime, whether they do or not is another thing. Would like to think they'd be understanding.

Betty, is your debt with your employer, mine is via a Credit Card.

At the end of the day, I'm probably going to go for it as I've too much to lose at home if we don't sort ourselves out.

  • Sorry to put a negative in but one of my friend went for a job interview with a major high street bank

Got the whole way through the interview process got offered the job, given a start date etc and then got a phone call after he had handed in his notice at his old job saying that they were withdrawing the job offer as his credit rating was to poor.

He had quite high debts and had missed a couple of payments in the past but everything was upto date at that point!

Dont know if this would effect your position but this is the experience i have heard of, sorry.
