I have some of these bulbs, the dimmable ones and the R63 spotlights. They're very good bulbs. They light up quickly and have good quality light, and they're exactly the same size and shape as the bulbs they're designed to replace.
They are expensive, but they're well made and last a long time so I would buy them again. Megaman bulbs are made in Germany, which is important to us as we try to buy European made items where possible.0 -
|Megaman are cosistently held up as the best ES lights you can buy. yes, they cost more initially, but they have a genuinely long life, and are a decent, high quality product.
I recently looked into replacing the halogen fitted bulbs in my kitchen, looked them up on ecotopia, and decide I wanted the 11W ones, which were extortionate!!eeek! then got a FAR better deal on a multi pack from ebay..
best bit??
when they arrived, the seller had padded the box with miles of loo roll! :j No plastic bubbles or nasties, just a card box and loo roll ( obviously the bulbs were in their sealed plastic)
so, yes...
we did use the loo roll!!! Money savers through to the core! OH thought that one of the kids had unravelled an entire roll of paper when he saw it, but when I explained was impressed!
Bargain!!

I bought R80 replacements for our kitchen but they took ages to brighten up. I've had to take them out because the family were leaving the lights on permanently because of the slow response.0

We had this problem. Very dark in the room in winter when first switched on. Our lights were 2 units with 4 x 40 watt R50 bulbs so put 3 x 7 watt melman in each unit and left 1 x R50 in each unit. So power usage per unit went from 160 watts to 61 still a good saving.0
