hi,
i am in the process of trying to get my credit scores to be a little better then they are now... (and am going at it very slowly as i'm a bit of a novice at this...)
i have the addresses and template letters to send off to the companies but was wondering if i look at them all at them same time, or if i do them one at a time to begin with???
is there a best way of doing this???
would i be better to write to any companies on them or to call, and get them to put any agreements in writing???
and are there any sure fire ways of earning 'brownie' points??? (for example i am on the electoral role now, but this is apparantly not showing on my bankds computer system... )
many thanks...:D

here's Martin's article

not aware of any template letters though... I think it's more a case of not missing payments or making too many applications for a while and repairing itself that way.0 -
Hi Nimbo,
Unless there are inaccuracies on payments that are classed as late or defaulted, you can't really challenge these. Unfortunately defaults etc will stay on the file for 6 years until they drop off. However, moving forward you can takes steps to improve your rating. Read Martin's article which is really good. Definitely make sure you are on the electoral roll. Double check with your council that they have added you on. It doesn't normally happen straightaway as they tend to add people on certain dates.
I am in the process of trying to improve my rating. I signed up for one of the Capital One cards which are designed to improve your rating. They have an horiffic APR rate of 35% , but the important thing is to use it to buy something small once a month, and then pay the full amount off so that you don't get any interest. I only buy something for about £20 a month on mine, and then make sure I pay by direct debit so it clears. So this will show on your credit report that you are making regular payments every month.
Just make sure, going forward that all debts are paid on time, so that no more defaults are listed.

i'm defintely on the roll as i voted!!!! (it just doesn't seem to have registered yet) but i popped in to the bank to open a saving account and they said that as i was on it they could open me an account without a bill, as all of those are now paper free, but they couldn't find me...
i'll print off the artivle, and thanks to all...
