Thanks all, this is great stuff. I checked out a recommended journey using a tube planner and it estimated 50 minutes on the tube... so that's well over an hour for me. I used to work in Epsom and that took me 25 to 45 minutes depending on school terms, and now I'm angling toward Kingston, Surbiton or Sutton way (though, parking...).

I'm still a bit torn about this role as it's an incredible industry to work in and will present some good opportunites, but I know how soul sucking London can be just from travelling to and from Guy's hospital periodically. I'm not sure I could stick it out every day... unless there's some serious eye candy in the office and a decent salary with this role ;)

Yes sorry I should elaborate: I live in zone 4, so a trip into Waterloo takes 20 mins, and then the tube from there: but that's not my preferred route. The job is located near to Barbican

Still don't know your starting station, but try Waterloo & City line from Waterloo one stop to Bank then walk. No point going round the Circle Line when a short walk will do! If I knew your starting station there might be a quicker way.

Have you tried Thameslink from Wimbledon to Farringdon and walk? My guess is it would take longer, but no Underground. Might be cheaper. It might be worth spending a couple of days trying different routes - and when/if you do decide which route to take, you will be familiar with your alternatives if one route has gone tits up that day.

Or if you're anywhere near the bottom of the Northern Line, use that to get to Moorgate and walk.

You know, I hadn't even considered Thameslink. I can come in from New Malden, Motspur Park, Berrylands or even Raynes Park at a push so Wimbledon is on the way in whichever way I go, which is why I thought of it as a starting point. Will check into Thameslink!

    Walk from Waterloo to Barbican.
At a fast walking pace it's only half an hour.

You'll be at work in under 1 hour.
The district line will get you a seat on the way in and after Earls Court on the way home, but it'll take HOURS.
