I think debt doctor was wondering if the debt was "Statute Barred".A debt will be "Statute Barred" if there has been no acknowledgement of the debt by you making a payment or in writing within the relevant limitation period.
If you are in England/Wales then the limitation period is 6 years and you should read:
Link: Factsheet | Liability for Debts and the Limitation Act (England/Wales)
If you are in Scotland then the limitation period is 5 years and you should read:
Link: Factsheet | Liability for debts & the Prescription & Limitation (Scotland) Act 1973
If you feel the debt is "Statute Barred", then there is a letter to write at the end of each factsheet.
BI = Beneficial Interest. That is your share of any equity in a property that the OR/trustee may want to claim in bankruptcy.
How much equity do you have?
Have you called National Debtline free on 0808 808 4000 yet?
They are open till midday today I think.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

The equity in the house is about 100k (although given the housing market, probably 80k). Can't remortgage due to my credit history - have tried.
Just tried Debtline but they're not open for another 10 minutes...will try again after writing this.
Given the dates, not sure if the debt is Statue Barred (probably not), although might be shortly - hence a "last ditch" attempt for them to get the money?0 -
Just spoken to NDL - and printed off the letter they suggested (CCA). Also found out that the letter wasn't sent correctly (just normal post), so at least I get a few days grace back... Now to count 12 working days..0

Hi Philhoward, I'm glad you've spoken to NDL, I'm sure you feel somewhat relieved. Good luck getting this sorted out.
