Getting a second job

Hi, i have been thinking about getting a second job on a weekend in a bar. i already have a full time job through the week, but working in a bar would mean saving money from not going out drinking, whilst earning money. thusly i would be able to save up even more quickly to pay off my loan early.

only problem is that i dont want to be working all hours and having no fun! so i am undecided on the idea, any suggestions??

    Hi Moneywaster.
Can you get a job where you can work the hours that you want. so start off with a couple of hours and build up until you feel comfortable doing x amount of extra hours?

Its all about balancing. Work out how much you would earn from a 2nd job and see what that would do to your loan completion date. They try find a 2nd job and trial it for 6-8 weeks. 6-8 weeks won't kill you and actually i used to like working in a pub at weekends when a student. You get a bit of a laugh and some banter with the clients. My mates used to come in and see me and generally it didn't feel like 'working'

    give it a go.

Worked in a pub for 5 years, till DS was born.
Saturday nights & Sunday luches. Loved it!

Would have gone back but landlady retired at same time as I left for maternity & it would not have been same!
It was a family run pub, with younger & older customers.

Yes its hard work, BUT you get spend the evening in a pub; you get drinks/tips & best of all you get paid for it!

In the 5 yrs, I went `out` with the customers about 10 times, usually on a Friday night & once on a `breakfast run` - watching people drink pints at 8am is a aquired taste! I stuck to orange juice!

Just not sure how the `24hr` drinking would affect you & your hours? Get that bit sussed!
Living debt free, since Sept 08 & Dec 10 :wall:
