Temporary Agreement Expiration

Hi all, this is my second problem I currently have with debt collectors, again I'll make it as brief as possible.

I left University with an overdraft with Natwest, which after not paying anything into it for about six months they decided to give the account to a debt collect, Rockwell.

As soon as Rockwell wrote to me, I made an offer of repayment, which they initially rejected. But after telling them that this is all I am willing to pay and to be frank another CCJ doesn't scare me, they agreed the offer of £100 a month on a £1773.38, which I actually mangaged to get down to £70 a month a few months afterwards.

Anyway, I've been making payments every month via standing order, not missing any at all.

Today they've written to me telling me that the "temporary" agreement has expired and that they require the entire amount in full straight away or it'll go to court etc etc.

Do I actually have to pay everything up now? Why has this agreement ended, it's not as if I've missed payments? Surely if it went to court, it'd get thrown out for wasting their time, all the court would do is see I haven't missed a payment and ask them what they are playing at?

Any advice would be great, cheers guys.

Precisely...unnecessary court action... carry on paying. You have received a standard letter issued without it going though even the most moronic of brain. If you want to be polite you could point out that there has been no change of circumstances and request continuation of the agreement until its completion in a year's time.

I get one of those letters every six months from HBOS. I just give them a call and let them know the situation hasn't changed and have to get CCCS to resend them out my budget statement and then the agreement carries on for the next six months. Try calling them and tell them you will be continuing with your arranged payments.

    Hi
You could frighten them? let me know that you living costs have gone up - utilities, travel to work and food and would they reduce your payments by £5 per month, as per the OFT Guidelines?
