Dreams? I don't think so

Options
My advice to you is to NOT buy your bed from Dreams.
We searched the land for an Ottoman, as it was the best for space saving in a smallish room and found one in Dreams, reasonably priced too.
Unfortunately, having taken a day off work to receive the bed, it didn't all arrive. It was an integral part of a bed that didn't arrive. That's where the fun really began....
We phoned the delivery guys - no extra bits, they delivered all they had.
Then we phoned the store. They said they would contact customer service and get back to us. 5 hours later, no call, so we phoned them back. They explained that customer service would contact us, but it might not be until the next day.
We then phoned customer service - it was an English number. They informed us they do not deal with NI customer service, rather the individual stores are supposed to!
When we phoned the store back and told them this, they agreed and said they had phoned the warehouse and that the supplier was shipping over the part! The person in Dreams was pretty rude and unhelpful and all I was asking was that they deliver the right parts for the bed.
Very frustrated at this point. And of course, when the part came direct from the supplier, it was for a single bed, not a double - there was steam coming out my ears at this point.
Some more unhelpful customer service from Dreams resulted in us calling the bed maker direct to tell them what we needed, so they arranged to have the part sent to Dreams - however they could not track it once in NI!
So we phoned Dreams back and told them the part was being delivered to them and that they were to ship it to our house.
Came home after work to find it propped against the door in the rain - even though we had insisted on a Saturday delivery so that we would be there, but obviously they ignored us.

Basically my advice - don't buy rom Dreams. Rude, arrogant, ignorant staff.

I feel sorry for you, so many UK companys have really poor customer service. I would always advise to go to your local independant bed store, where they know what is in stock and are familiar with installing. Too late now for you  By the way my local bed store has double ottoman beds starting at £249.

trcooke I see you are in Bangor - try the Sound Asleep factory in Balloo Industrial Estate for a new bed.

jarrod1 if your close by, they can make whatever length of bed you need :T

I bought a bed from The Bed Shed, they gave me a king size for the price of a double. It sagged in the middle and was uncomfortable to sleep in, i phoned them and they delivered, yes, DELIVERED (which cost £35 instore) a new bed right to my door within 3 days. Their customer service was great, the people i spoke to couldn't have been nicer.

Sadly im still having problems with the new bed and i think im going to have to ring them again, but i would TOTALLY recommend them. Fantastic customer service! :D

  • I am happy to say I had the opposite experience from DREAMS. I bought from the Bangor store- great deal... you know what I mean!!... very friendly and knowledgable staff. Truthful and clear. (I already knew my facts and the staff confirmed they did too.) Having shopped around I bought and was delighted to have my bed delivered when expected. Really great bed. Great service. Perhaps this is because Heather manager of the Bangor store was winner of DREAMS sales / manager of year - I recall seeing something about this in the local paper. As usual... service varies from store to store. However I will recommend this shop and will buy there again in a few months when we will be needing another new bed.

We recently decided to buy a new bed, and I found the one in Dreams that I wanted, I did have a slight problem with delivery, they did not contact me within the time frame that they said that they would. They said it would be 5 weeks, 5 weeks were up and nothing happened, so me being me, I contacted them, and low and behold our bed was waiting but noone had contacted us!

I think in places like Dreams, and other specialist stores, you really should not have to wait 5 weeks plus for delivery of your bed, nor should you have to pay for delivery, I think it should be all provided.

But I absoloutley love the bed, I think its gorgeous, so you can all have a nosey at it here http://www.dreams.co.uk/en-gb/ProductDetails/?cid=UPHOLSTERED-STEADS&pid=265-00012&language=en-GB:D

totally agree - do not buy from dreams!

we had absolutely horrendous service - bed took 16 weeks instead of 2-4, then it was faulty - THREE TIMES! they failed to deliver continually, they took rediculous length of time to arrange repair / replacement - my god it was awful!

oh and did i mention the abusive answer machine message the delivery driver left on my answer machine - obviously he didn't realise that he hadn't terminated the call!

    ARGH!
  • I bought a bed from dreams in ipswich 12 months ago in a sale, i went in picked out the bed paid cash and was told there were lots in stock , i said i would pick it up the following friday.

the sales woman assured me she would go out back and mark up a bed for me

went in to pick it up and all the staff were out back smoking finally got someones attiontion and had to wait 25 mins while they looked for it only to be told the only one they had left was open and missing a few pieces, after a few "thats not good enoughs" they aggreed to upgrade the bed which sounds great only problem is the wife and i are large people so we chose a bed with a support bar in the middle as the last bed we had without one lasted 6 months :embarasse . they only had one bed in stock like this and it was horrible but we had no chioce as we had chucked our old bed away.

i will never ever go back there and id rather sleep on the floor than spend my cash there.
