haggling at Comet

Hi,
I'm new here so don't know if this has been posted before, but I thought it might be a useful tip.
Comet's in-store retail prices generraly end in 99p, as do most retail outlets, eg £1.99.
When a product has gone to end-of-line (discontinued), the price changes to end in 97p, eg £1.97.
Keep an eye out for these price tags in-store, as when the products are discontinued, staff get a higher rate of staff discount (25% as apposed to the normal 10%).
If the staff payment structure is as it used to be, sales assistants work on a commision/target bonus system (which is why they all leap on you when you walk through the door). They'll want to bag the sale, and they can use their staff discount to do thid to a degree.
So in summary, discontinued line= higher staff discount= more leeway for the customer to haggle the price down.
Hope this helps someone.
Cheers

Hi there and welcome
The 97p = clearance angle is well-known on this foum (and the dificulty often of finding a store with the things actually in stock). But I didn't know about the extra staff discount and the prospect of haggling. Well useful -- thanks a lot.0
