I am trying to find out if my husband will be entitled to any holiday pay. He started a new job on the 20th May. And we are going on holiday on the 23rd August.
He works an average of 40 - 45 hours a week , 4 days a week and then every other saturday. Will he be entitled to any holiday pay when we go or will it be to soon ? If so how many days ?

Does he have an allowance in his contract? If so it's common to allow the entitlement to be taken ahead of time, usually capped at two weeks - check this thread also though for more info as the same rules apply.0

his contract says 4.8 weeks a year. but the any holiday during the first year is worked out pro - rata.0

So your OH will have worked roughly 3 months, a quarter of a year.
If full entitlement is 4.8 weeks (which is the statutory minimum entitlement), he will have earned 1.2 weeks pro rata.
From what you say, he averages 4.5 days/week. Back of the envelope calculation says that means 5.4 days day will have accrued in time for your late August holiday.
That also assumes that the May bank holiday was either not paid or Bank Holidays are paid in addition to the other holiday entitlement (the later unlikely I would guess). It is also possible that if bank holidays are included in the 4.8 weeks, then these will be reserved out of the annual entitlement, effectively reducing the amount of freely available holiday time.0
