Advice - T Mobile have mucked up my credit record!

Hi,

Had a contract with T-Mobile, opened March 2004. Phoned up to cancel contract in October 2005 and made final payment in November 2005. Was told by the operator on the phone that the account was now settled and the account closed.

However, had a look at my credit report today and found that T-Mobile have recorded a default for an amount of £9.21 since December 2005.

So I phoned them today, they couldn't tell me what the £9.21 was for as the account was so old they couldn't view the bills back that far, but that the system showed I owed £9.21 which I just paid by debit card.

I've never had any contact from T-Mobile about this and therefore didn't know about it and never had the chance to pay it. I would of assumed they would have either called me directly or gotten a collection agency involved to collect the outstanding money.

Now I have 2 and a half years of default showing on an account I was assured was settled and closed. No contact from T-Mobile to say otherwise so I consider this their fault.

Whats my rights regarding getting this sorted, ideally I want them to amend my record to say that the account was settled in Dec 2005, is that an option?

Cheers
Jonny

Might be a bit tricky, as you paid the defaulted amount and didn't dispute it.

With hindsight, I think it would have been better to ask them to prove the outstanding amount.

You could write to T-Mobile and ask them to prove the default or remove it from your record, if you do, let us know how you get on.
