Pushy American Salesman

You dont say what his job is and the site redirects to FirstGroup America and is about transport. The whole thing appears to be American on the site with only one page about Laidlaw.

    hi,
Sorry, my mistake the website was laidlawltd.com - they asked me waht bracket of shares i held (500k, 1m, or 3m)and if they could contact me if a bargain investment opportunity came up. Just curious about the firm.

Was this a cold call or have you previously had dealings with them or one of their associates in the past? (I'm guessing the former or you wouldn't have posted.)

This sounds distinctly like the start of some of the letters I see in the financial section of my weekend paper where people have lost lots of money through boiler rooms etc.

The phrase "bargain investment opportunity" sounds a little too good to be true.

Personally I wouldn't touch with a barge pole, but see what others come up with.

One other thing - make sure that the ones that called you aren't actually impersonating:

    http://www.laidlawplc.com
    http://www.laidlawgrp.com

Because the site you mention seems to have copied (or vice versa) the graphics of the plc site I mentioned.

If they truely were the same company (as the graphics indicate) then they would have one site redirect to the other, not have two separate sites.

This is looking fishy to me.
