What's the deal?
Threadless, the ever-popular US T-shirt brand which prints witty & quirky designs submitted and chosen by its users, is now having a summer sale. The shirts generally go for $10-$15 (£5-7.50) though you'll have to pay postage on top.
How can I get 'em?
Browse the sale collection at Threadless.com, and add whatever takes your fancy to your basket. The shop's easy to navigate, and there've been some nice designs in the last few months. Be quick though; the sale's due to end 6 June.
Postage & Import Duty
Delivery rates to the UK are very reasonable; I added three shirts and postage came to $10.10 (around £5). That said, you may wait up to 25 days for your order to arrive.
Whilst some people have noted that orders of less than 3 items are less likely to be stopped at customs, there's no guarantee of this, so you should be prepared to pay the relevant charges. It ought still to work out a fair bit cheaper than the UK high st. Read Buying from the US for more details.
Anything else?
Take a photo of yourself wearing your Threadless shirt and post it on the site, and they'll give you $1.50 credit (per photo) to use against your next order.

I like these T-shirts but they're not as cheap as they appear. I bought a few. The basic cost was indeed around £5. But after paying p&p, commission to convert $ to £, and customs charge at the local Sorting Office, the total cost to me came to £11.70 per shirt. I think they're still worth it - but it's a lot more than £5.

I've used Threadless a few times - usually around their sale times. The t-shirts are very cheap and the quality is fantastic - they usually use American Apparel t-shirts to print and these t-shirts, plain, usually retail for around £11 in the UK.
I recently placed an order and the total cost, inc p&p, for 3 t-shirts was $41 which calculates to around £7 per t-shirt.0 -

I didn't have to pay customs charge last time so lets hope I don't this time0 -
I didn't have to pay customs either. Unfortunately the three t-shirts I want are always out of stock.0

Been hunting for amusing T-shirts for my rather large OH, most have been coming up as £15 each including p&p at least so even if these work out to around £12 each inc p&p I'll still be happy, just hope he is with the ones I've ordered himYou cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0

Hi, does anyone who's ordered before know what their sizing is like?
I'm a girl size 10-12, guess I'm a medium, but don't want to order the wrong size from the US!0 -

I ordered a large mens and the size was spot on from what I've ever purchased in the UK. If you have a look here: http://www.threadless.com/sizechart then this should help as it gives width and length of their t-shirts.0 -

Oh yeah, when you choose a t-shirt see what it says it's printed on i.e. American Apparel and then check the size chart.0 -
i have ordered at least 6 times and only ever had one item stopped and charged customs fees..all packages have a label printed on front with contents and the value in $...My package was over $50 so got stopped - tbh the customs fee was only about £4 but royal mail charges me a further £8...robbing gets!
so perhaps if your order is leass than $50 it will be ok? Don't quote me on it!0 -
That's an interesting thought. My order for 6 shirts came to £53.70 and then I got charged £15 customs plus my credit card provider also charged commission. Total over £70. The trouble with very small orders (one or two T-shirts) is that the p&p goes up. I'm sure someone can work out the best order quantity to minimise all charges...
Meanwhile, to answer faithless's question about sizing, you simply find a T shirt in your current wardrobe that you're happy with, lie it flat, measure its height and width in imperial inches, and then the website tells you what size you are.
