Sure you just want the cheapest? I bought a lacey 1TB drive which was the noisiest thing you've ever heard (advanced natural cooling they say!) and it started to fail after a few days. The Western Digital Mybook 2 which replaced it is quiet and has worked seemlessly for months now. I'll never buy Lacey again.

Noise isn't a factor to me as this is for a once a month off-site backup. That one you suggest sounds okay but I can't find it on Amazon.....--

That's an excellent price for the WD MyBook 2 Essential on Amazon (£114.15). Very difficult to beat at that price. The only thing that comes close price-wise is the LaCie, or lesser known brands, and like pealy I've had experience of LaCie external drives failing. Usually it's the PSU.0
