lindam stair gate recall

I have a lindam gate along with extensions which was a nightmare basically you can get a free extension kit from lindam if you send off I needed the gate asap so for the sake of a few quid I just ordered one at the same time as my gate from Argos I get home extension does not fit gate despite it saying so both online and in catalogue:mad: phone Lindam who tell me it is a known problem and the extensions argos sell do not fit any of their gates had I bought a gate elsewhere the extension from argos would fit as argos sell an exclusive model how stupid!! I phone Argos they know nothing of problem I tell them I am really angry as I dont drive and I had to get bus both ways with a toddler and a baby to collect a gate I cannot use I then have to get a bus again both ways with toddler and baby to get a £7 refund anyhow they refunded me a bit more because of my trouble and expenses and refunded £10 and Lindam sent me the new extensions I paid postage of 3.50 Gate all up and working stopping my 2 little ones from getting in the kitchen today I get this blooming mail saying the gate is not safe and I need to take it back which means yet another bus ride with 2 kids and god knows how long with my kitchen opened up to a very mischeivious toddler and and inquisitive baby :mad: :mad: I am fuming

375/3282 (Lindam model LD146
We have identified a problem with a batch of Lindam saftey gates where the plastic hinge that retains the gate within the frame may fail in use. This will result in the gate becoming detached from the frame and the potential for injury.
If the hinge is damaged or broken then there is also a further potential for injury if the gate becomes detached and ceases to be an adequate barrier to potentially hazardous situations.
We have decided therefore to recall the product(s).
Safety gates that are affected can be identified in the following ways – the plastic used in the hinge mechanism is white not blue and the stairgate will be marked with a model number along the bottom bar of the gate
Affected model numbers are LD145 and LD146 If you have one of these numbers your product is affected, any other model numbers are unaffected.
Please see the adjacent images which will help you identify the hinge and model number.
If you own one of the affected safety gates, please stop using it immediately and return it to your nearest Argos store for a full refund.

If you have passed the product on to anyone else or know someone who has this product please alert them to this email.
No other Lindam or Argos product is affected by this issue.[/font]

Yes this recall was released at beginning of May. From what I can see on the Argos website you will only get a refund as they do not appear to have any similar Lindam pressure gates £19.99 in stock. In my local area the only ones they have got are the £29.99 taller models or the wood and metal one.

If you have an Ikea near you, their baby gates are excellent. Easy to fit, robust and easy to use. Hope that helps.

As far as i'm aware all the faulty gates have been sent back to Lindam and Argos have been sent ones that don't have the problem hinges. Also from what i've read at the store i work at there was a problem with the gates bought before the 14th of December. Hope that helps..
