Hi
http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/
sorry link directly to the post doesn't work, I did a search for market research and came up with the post below. I have linked to the job centre website instead.
Has anyone worked for this company doing this? I fancied this previously, no selling involved.
Meant to add, that though this post is for kettering, there are posts throughout the country, there is a generic recruitment number as they seem to be recruiting throughout the country.

Thanks, however:
I had one of these researchers come into my house last Sunday - she was there for 30 minutes and said it's very hard work and the pay isn't very good.0 -
Hi PB
I worked for MORI for about 18 months.
The basic projects you get are to do 10 to 15 interviews in a specific area.
Sounds easy - however you have to meet targets for ages, social groups, homeowners and others so getting the last few are difficult - the hardest are age 18-25. Also if you have to travel a bit it is not cost effective to go back to the area so the pressure is on to do it in one visit. They only pay for one visit.
This is usually a fixed price contract so if you take 5 hours it can be well paid 10 hours and it is poorly paid. Also you get paid a bit for preparation but it does not cover all the time to sort out the paperwork.
On the up side I did some projects that were more enjoyable - interviews at tourist attractions / art galleries which were better paid. Also some targeted projects where you have to go to specific addresses and interview people can be very well paid. Of course you only get the better jobs when you are established.
I have tried to tell it as it is - it can be hard work in terms of time and shoe leather but it is not too brain straining. It can be a good way to earn some money but not really a career for most people!
Hope this helps."The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him no good."(Samuel Johnson 1709-1784)

Thanks dave,
Your reply and experience is very helpful. I have reduced my hours at work due to stress, so just wanted to do some hours doing something totally different, to keep my salary up.
This sounds perfect. I might give it a go.
For the one I applied for, they give you a laptop to download your results at the end of the day.
