Engagement Hamper -What to put in?

Hi all
a friend at work has just announced her engagement and I thought it would be nice to make up a hamper, I already have a wicker hamper left over from making Christmas baskets but so far I can only think of some bubbly and glasses and perhaps choccies.
I need some inspiration from you - what have you put in an engagement hamper that was especially appreciated or what can you suggest that doesn't cost the earth.
Many Thanks

How about you buy a Wedding Magazine?
Or if your talented at something, perhaps cake making or hair and make up, then you could make a hand made voucher offering your service for her special day.0 -

How about a couple of those little bottles of bubbles shaped like champagne bottles?
I think an engagement basket is a really lovely idea, Im sure she will appreciate the thought, whatever you put in it.0 -
Anything you want to give will be loved and appreciated I am sure. Its so lovely that you are going to so much trouble.I am jealous because we didnt even get any engagement cards, actually we did get one, from debenhams after I registered for the wedding list service."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0

Are you planning a theme?
You could go down many routes with this one.
Champagne and Bubbles - Buy a bottle of champers/ sparkling wine, a couple of champagne flutes and some luxury bubble bath.
Coffee and Chocolate- But some posh coffee from somewhere like Whittards and some nice choccies from say Hotel Chocolat or Thorntons.
A Sweet Treat - Fill a basket with yummy biscuits, sweets and cupcakes.
A movie night- Pick a romantic dvd, add some popcorn and a few bottles of diet coke.
There are loads of ideas out there.
I think you are very kind thinking of the idea for your work mate.0 -
Depends on the size of your basket as well. If you add something like a throw or towels of something bulky then it sits nicely in your basket and stops others things from clashing together IYSWIM?
there is a finished basket thread, lots of ideas

A book on how planning the wedding.
A couple of bright folders, heart-shaped Post Its etc for the planning process.
A CD of wedding music so they can choose what they want.
A book of love poems so they can choose readings for the wedding.
Most larger bookshops have a wedding planning section - usually in the Reference area.0
