Buying Property Abroad

I am looking to buy a property abroad in a few years time but am fazed by the wealth of firms promising you the "property of your dreams". What is the best way to ensure fairness of price and good advice. Any advice on this subject would be most welcomed.

Hi Scrumpy & welcome,
Abroad's a pretty big place, in fact it includes all the rest of the world!! I think to get any specific advice you're gonna have to narrow it down a tad.
Otherwise, with "a few years" until you buy, my advice is RESEARCH. Firstly the country or countries you fancy, then the particular areas, then finally the property market there. Until you've some idea of where you want to buy I'd steer well clear of developers or agents with glossy brochures & "dream homes" - independent visits and talking to people who already own there, finding out the down [everywhere has them!] as well as upsides of owning in that location. Once you know the place and how things work, you'll be better prepared to see thro' the spin.
Alternatively, book an inspection flight, take your credit card and you might get lucky! :whistle:0 -
