On another thread a poster has said that her son now in his 30s will not get a state pension although he is still paying tax and National Insurance contributions. Is this right? If so how old would the last person to get a pension be now?

That is incorrect.
His state retirement age will be higher (raised to 68 by 2044 in stages - first increase in 2024). However, he will get the basic state pension and if he is employed, his NI payments, if sufficient, will also go towards the second state pension.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
