HSBC Fees question

I wonder if someone can answer this (hopefully simple) question re HSBC fees.
When I click on the link for the fees, they quote two pricing packages; standard and fee free.
How is it decided which one would apply?

Its up to you. Usually the standard package (the one with the fee) will save you money in the long term. The fee free is mainly for people who don't have enough money available to pay the fee up front.
Check the "Total Amount Payable" part of the table to see which offers best value.0 -
Thanks for the reply topher. Having just done a few KFIs on their webste, I think it's a case of which mortgage option I opt for, I think.
Being a Plus customer, I think their rates are up there as one of the most competitive on the market. Would people agree?0
