Hi all, ive tried to find anything that relates to this so sorry if this has been posted before.
I need to get a second job, working in retail/customer service is my field. Im looking at working weekends and bank holidays, plus any time off I have from my current job, something like stock person in Sainsburys or Asda.
I work in an office 37.5 hours a week around £20k a year. A few friends have said if you get a second job the taxman will sting you.
I had a look on the tax website but can't find anything on there about it.
Does anyone know if you pay more than the 20% tax bracket im on? Obviously if I go into the next tax bracket I will pay the 40%, but just want to get a clear idea if its really worth it.
Thanks

You will only pay 20% (upto the threshhold which you are a long way from).
It seems worse because only one job benefits from your personal tax allowance. If you have benefits/tax-credits, you need to check how the extra income affects those things.
