Cheap little SS colanders

Options
Just a quick 'heads up' for any single OS-ers, who are in the market for a one to two-seater stainless steel kitchen colander. InStore/Poundstretchers are doing cute little 7" diameter ones for the princely sum of just £1. Capacity should be about 1 litre, but the water keeps running out of the holes. They are the traditional type, with a foot (keeps the food off the draining board) and two side handles, and look well made too.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

I had similar from the pound shop in Newcastle in 2003. Still going strong.

FYI, the chromium in stainless steel alters the make up of the alloy in such a fashion that it doesn't bond with oxygen to form rust (iron oxide), it forms chromium oxide instead (which is naked to the eye, and protective to the steel, as it prevents further iron being "used up" in forming rust.)

Stainless shouldn't rust (it can, it stains /less/ but I've never found it to). If it does, its not stainless....

i have 2 of these 80p each from a cheapy shop about 4 years ago great for single portions of rice, pasta or veg, i dont have a dishwasher now- but my reason for getting them was that they take a lot less space in the dishwasher that i used to have - 2 were needed as one was often one midcycle in the dishwasher when i had a need for it. they are great and have lasted well.
