Does unmade jelly go off?

Can Jelly go off? Found some Rowntrees jellies in the back of our cupboard but the use by date/best before date i forget which was about 12 months ago. There were several boxes of various flavours anyway i could not see how it could go off as it is only gelatine but i could of course be wrong so before i poison us all anyone any idea?
Thanks:o

I doubt it'll poison you but I'd have a good sniff before you make it. I found an old jelly the other day that was a couple of months out and when I unwrapped it, it smelt really bad, sort of chemically and 'off', it wasn't nice at all. It had changed colour too so I chucked it.
