Long time since I gave an update

Hi All

Its been a long long time since I did an update and after an few eyeopeners today I though it may be an idea for me to do one.

As you can see from my tag line , I had heavy debts ( I need to update these at somepoint as the figure is nearer to 30k now)

Today I found a bank statement from 2 years ago and thought it would be good to see what has changed.

Well here is a quick summary

1) Was paying £12.22 for breakdown cover. Now paying £6.37
2) Was paying around £35 per month for landline. Now paying £7.99 on vonage
3) Sky has now gone and I pay half of the virgin package which includes broadband (was £55 + £14.99 broadbandnow paying £25)
4) Mobile bill has gone down form £60 a month to £15 a month
5) Car Insurance has plummeted from £64 per month to £21.

Back then I was depressed , struggling to make a living delivering takeaways. I wa sthen offered a full time job and my first take hom epay was £930. I have had several promotions and Thursday was offered a job working with our major rivals earning £3000 a year more and going up to £5000 a year more after 3 months. They head hunted me.

Today I did something unbelievable as well. I went into a shop and bought a new TV (mine had died just after christmas and I was saving) and used this amazing new concept for buying things. Its called cash. I was asked if I wanted credit and said NO. I even managed to get the shop to match an internet price.

I am going to spend more time here in the next few months as I have neglected to visit and have to hold my hands up and say I have leeched info from here.

A lot of people here may only be reading and think they are deep in the doo doo , but believe me , no matter how bad things get , everyone here is here to help and share expieriences.

Good Luck everyone and always ask if you need help.

John

Congratulations of such a massive achievement, that's a fab story and hopefully it will show some of the DFW's out there that there is hope.

Look forward to seeing an updated list of your debts and hopefully see you around here more often.

    Well done John.

This should show first-timers to MSE and debt that there is light at the end of the tunnel. :T

I just wish I had found this site 3 years ago when I had my LBM but thanks to MSE and other DFW's, I've taken even bigger steps to clear my debts.
