Just joined up and open to any advice.

Hello.

Just joined up here today. Been meaning to for quite a while now. Myself and my wife are currently on a DMP with CCCS. Our combined debts are round about 30k! I work 5 to 6 days a week with my wife working 2 days. We have been on the DMP for about 6 months now. Got 2 kids both under 5 and a flat with mortgage worth 80k and a car worth under £500. On the current DMP, we pay about £340 per month which gets split by CCCS between the 10 or so creditors. Practically leaves us next to nothing left over each month after food, stuff for kids and petrol and bills etc. They currently estimate about 6 years to pay off completely. Would be interested in any advice from anyone who has been/is in similar situation. Also, should mention that we have a 1k debt we genuinely forgot to tell CCCS about but have been struggling to keep that paid with the monthly minimum. We have a basic Bank A/C each which is okay, but a bit rubbish for managing online.

So, we are open to any advice.

Thanks.
CeeKay08.

Welcome to the board. We currently have a trouble making little troll lurking about so if they happen to post on this thread please don't be offended or hurt. they will soon be exterminated.

6 years isn't actually that long to pay back 30k. I know it feels a long time but its not lookin g at the big picture.

If you want post your SOA and we will have a look to see if we can help you make a little bit more savings if you want up too.

Other than that all i can suggest is get ebaying the stuff the kids and you don't use

    Hi. Welcome.

I'm on a DMP with CCCS at the moment. I've got a similar amount of debt, I'm on my own with a mortgage and it's gonna take me longer to pay my debts off than you - I only have £240 pm to pay my 9 creditors. Estimated 10 years! Not on my nelly! I'm due to pay my mortgage off in 5 years so intend to be debt free before then.

Do tell CCCS about your extra debt. I forgot one of £400 and they said they could include one just the one time althought I did have to grovel a bit. What I did in the end was to pay off my Next catalogue bill of £100 and said they could use that money to put towards my forgotten debt.

  • What's an SOA? :confused::D

Oh and the 6 years is 'current'. They have still to adjust it as my wife has cut her days she works down from 3 to 2. So the 6 years may well get extended a bit.

    Thanks.

    Hi CK,

An SOA is a statement of affairs in which you list all of your income and expenditure - you will have had to complete one for CCCS so you'll recognise it when you see it.

Please use the following link to produce and post yours:-

    Hope this helps

How about joining in the "make £10 a day challenge" that runs on this board - there is a new one starting for June!

This would give you a way of raising a few extra pounds that will help get rid of that debt a bit quicker!

  • I might wait till the July one. That will give me a chance to look into all those websites that pay you for doing stuff. Will give me a chance to sign up for things. Don't have an EBay Account either yet.

    Thanks.
