Decorating a bike

I hope Im posting this in the right place.
We have a fun day coming up on Saturday, and the kids want to enter the 'best decorated bike' competition. I really havent a clue where to start. Can someone give me any ideas please?:o
I wont be able to get to any major shops in the week and anything I have to purchase (crepe paper etc) I will need to buy off Ebay.
The children are a boy of six and girl of seven.
There is also a fancy dress competition, which will be full of spidermans, etc, so I would like the bikes to be a bit different if possible.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated, thank you
