The Last Stage with the Mortgage

Hi everyone,
We have applied for extra borrowing against the house with the HSBC and wondered if we have reached the last stage or not.
Yesterday we saw a solicitor who gave us Independent Legal Advice and he explained what might happen if we didn't keep up with the mortgage payments etc etc.
I asked him if he knew if this was the final stage and he wasn't sure. He mentioned the mortgage has to be submitted to the land registry.
Back in April the HSBC said they had written to the land registry and even though I don't know what for, I thought all must be done with them.
I can never get through when I ring up and can't get the time to drop into the bank, but when I have dropped into the bank, they have the same situation as me waiting in a queue for someone to answer.
I thought once the ILA was signed in front of the solicitor, he releases the money 3-5 days after.
Does anyone know please.
