The SD 253 has been replaced recently by the SD 255.

If you really want a 253, how about eBay, but you may not be able to get a new one.

Jaynespain we were trying for about 3 months to get the latest Panasonic SD255.As fast as they were coming into the shops they were flying off the shelfs.

Our local Comet iasn't having any more in but told us which of their stores had one in stock. It meant a quick dash to the other store to get one but at least we had one at long last.It cost us £99.99 and a kindly old gentleman worker even carried it out to the car for me as they are quiet heavy and I suffer with a bad back.

Here is a photo of the very first loaf we made with packet mix to have a try.We do all ours from scratch now and it is lovely to have the smell of freshly baked bread...

    Good Luck with your search..

I used to have the older panasonic and liked it very much but I started to bake more and more hand made loaves ( I have baked bread for 35 years so the panasonic was a blip). I decided to give it to my dd last year and she loves it.

I baked a loaf yesterday in the electric oven and had to think of something else to make, to justify having the oven on, because of the cost of electricity.

I had a mooch on the net just now and decided to look at wattage. The panasonic is 550 watts and the oven is 4000 watts. I need the oven on full blast and for quite a while before baking too, because I make stone baked bread so it would cost me at least 8 times as much as the panasonic if not more:eek:

I have just ordered another panasonic. An sd 255 from lakeland. Blow stone baked bread at that price

Have you tried Lakeland's website, they had a panasonic breadmaker a couple of days ago, not sure if it is the model you want but it was £99.99 - free delivery also I think.
