ipod or mp3 whats the difference?

Ok I want to buy an ipod or mp3 player what the difference and where would be the cheapest not through internet though.

Ipod has a hard drive to store mp3s in the player.

An mp3/cd player uses CD-R's to store music. You can get 200 songs on a 700 meg disc. (depends on quality, encoding..ect)

Some mp3 players are flash based and can store as much as the size of the flash memory.

Best value is a cd/mp3 player. Eventually pocket pc or palm PDA devices will have a hard drive and become a better multimedia player.

It is estimated you need 97 TB of space to record every living moment for 80 years. Someday 100 TB storage devices will be available.

i think that ipod is just a brand which some people may be drawn to, depending on which one you are refering to they can do all sorts, play videos and stuff like that,

if you just want a basic ipod then the ipod shuffle is a really small dinky thing and 1gb costs around £32 from most places like argos or around £45 for a 2gb one,
the ipod nano is also another great one which is dinky and can play the videos, ranges from £100 - £150 ish again most places like argos,

any other mp3`s do the same job as a ipod shuffle, can be cheaper depending on the make.
