I use the tea version on my second child. Worked a treat and he never had a sore bum.

    Hi
I have reusable wipes for my son, they are made from fleece and flannel, one bit of each sewn together to make them double sided. I keep them in a pampers or huggies plastic tub. I make up a cup of chamomile tea add a drop of lavender or tea tree oil and then pour the cup over the wipes. I did used to add a couple of drops of baby bath, but found that the tea and oil were just as good!

  • I like the sound of all this DIY reusable wipes and liquid. I originally was recommended Cheeky Wipes by a friend - their website tells you how to make the system work - google cheeky wipes and go to their How it Works page.

I cut up an old flannelette sheet to make mine. I just use water on them, then keep them in a 'wet-bag'.

When my daughter was born 29 years ago an old midwife, suggested that if she ever had a sore bum to use an egg white, just separate the egg break the white up a bit, smear on & leave to dry before putting a nappy on. She only ever got sore when she was in nappies just at night, tried the egg white at night & it went completely by the morning.
I only ever cleaned her with water & cotton wool, a dab of vaseline at every nappy change & used terry nappy squares.

I was told by my midwife, many years ago, that natural yoghurt, smeared on like baby lotion, is very good for treating nappy rash.

Hi be careful if you try this one - my daughter has a severe egg allergy she had a dot of mayo from a spoon on her skin once and it flared up huge!

I use baby bits soap from www.babykind.co.uk or http://www.cheekywipes.com/mandarin_and_tea_tree_lemon_essential_oil_blend

I tend to use either plain water if im using an old face cloth at home, fantastic for explosions!

Or if i'm going slightly posh either cooled camomile tea and a drop of lavender oil with a TINY drop of baby wash (and i mean 1 drop) just to give it some cleaning power (handy for meconium or dried poo on boys little bits) stored in a airtight tub, or water that's had oats in it ( pop some oats in a pop sock and tie in a knot and soak for a bit)

Both are good for babies delicate skin.
