As said, sounds like a lily beetle. Do you have lilies?

Bit of nightmare. "interestingly" their larvae carry their crap on top of them so they cunningly look like bird poo and don't get noticed. Or failing that, nothing wants to eat them anyway, as they look so digusting,

I had some last year and luckily was able to get rid of them by dunking my lily pot into a big container of soapy water for 10 minutes. If they're planted in the ground, it's much more difficult.

Check out my enormous worm! I found him today - it's the biggest one I've ever seen! I reckon he'd top 40cm at full stretch!

Hiya, we've got problems with Lilly Beetles - i've sprayed with Bayer Provado but they seem to keep on comin back

When you say you "dunked" your pot - what do you mean ?? Did you just dunk it straight into a bucket of water inc fairy liquid ?? Does this work then ??

These little !!!!!!s are really anoying me !! Then yesturday found that mr + mrs Snail had developed a taste for the young tips of my lilies  - chomped their way through 2/3 heads !!
