Hi

My dad is a self emplyed plumber and is currently not working as he has torn ligaments in his leg.

Is there any sort of insurance he can take out to cover him for this?

    Yes, but you have to take it out before the injury occurs.

    Permanent Heath Insurance (PHI) pays out an income till ones back at work or till the cover ends (usually at a selected retirement age)

    Sve me typing loads use the search button it's well documented in a few threads.

    You really need to look at the cost versus the likelyhood of personal injury. Insurance companies know their risk added their profit margin and have worked out their premiums accordingly.
