The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(

Thanks for all your replies. Yes I am very proud of her particularly as just recently her and her husband were going to put their business into liquidation and then when everything was being finalised, did a complete U turn and decided to fight back.

So money is in short supply hence my amazement and initially my refusal but she wouldn't have it. She insisted that I had the car.

We've had a few tough times together.

shes repaying you for all the love and money yo put out raising her, i think ill have to wait a very long time for my car......

make sure she has a receipt in her name, and you tell the OR...

Ok...now being practical. If I put the car in her name this is going to cause problems re insurance. If I tell the OR he might take it from me and I'm not inclined towards that..........I'd rather set fire to it.

So I don't tell him. Any way round? She's lending it to me? There has to be some way. ;)

Should have made it clear.....my daughter and son in law delivered the car. They left Rugby at four this morning! They then went back to work for an hour in the office and then she drove to Heathrow to collect my niece.

    Talk about stamina!

Made me tired just thinking about it.

you tell the OR you now have the use of a vehicle, your daughter paid for it, she has the receipt, you will be the registered keeper on the V5 and pay for the insurance.
Now we all know how it felt to play in the band on the Titanic...
  • What can i say !!!!!...... E X E L L E N T... ,I Hope my children show the love and respect your daughter has shown you.

    T H E O N L Y W A Y I S U P ! ! ! !........:money:
  • Could the V5 be put into her name and she takes out an insurance policy in her name, with you as a "named driver"? You never know, she may get a discount for having a 2nd car with her insurance company, and you can pay her the price of the monthly instalments in cash.

I could be wrong, but I was lead to believe that a V5 and insurance documents had to be in the same name. Somebody more knowledgeable out there - please feel free to correct me. If this is true, then my first paragraph may be a way around it.

Decluttering junk and debt in 2016
    Debts - Vanquis £3500 1/1/16; DFD - when I'm dead with £100,000,000+ interest  UPDATED Feb 2016 £2739.80; DFD June 2016 :j
    Next - £1500 1/1/16 DFD about 10 years time. UPDATED Feb 2016 £1371.16; DFD July 2016 :j
THE GOAL IS TO HAVE NO DEBT BY THE END OF 2016
  • In short NO; it usually helps if both are in the same name, but you can have the v5 and insurance in different names - does that help? v5 stipulates the registared keeper - it does not prove ownership. Insurers are usually happier if the registered keeper is the same, but it is not a legal requirement to have the same... hope that clears up the prob.;)
BSC 160 that's me! :j 2 years to go before I qualify... and am let loose on the public

Why tell your OR at all:confused:

Unless you intend to submit a new SOA for the cost of running it (which i have a funny feeling you wouldnt get anyway) then i see no reason why you need to tell the OR.

You had to put any car you had use of at the time of your BR but ive not seen anything that says you must declare one after if you get use of one.

So unless Fermi contradicts me, i would keep it to yourselfe;)
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(
  • You can do as you have said and b a named driver on your daughters ins but what if you have an accident?
Also if you are not the owner of said car you might find it difficult to insure.
    hope this helps.
