Ask Electronics (askdirect) - Any good?

After using the price comparison sites for an MP3 the cheapest price is from Ask Electronics who apparently have a shop in Tottenham Court Rd London and web site askdirect.co.uk.

Has anybody bought from them?  If so I would appreciate feedback on how good the service was or did you have any problems?
Regards
erb :)

Ask do have a shop in TCR so they're legit.. not sure about their service as I've never shopped with them.

Have bought from them several times in the past and they are respectiable and legit. Bought an expensive digital cam which had a few pixels missing in the sensor. Changed it with no problems, although this was dealing with them in person rather than via the website.

I have bought from their website a couple of times without prolems. Have also been to the shop, but found that prices there were sometimes slightly more than on the website.

    Cheers

If you go to the shop with the website print out they will give it to you for the web price.

Yep, I've bought from them too, they must be doing quite well because they have recently refurbished the shop in a big way. I would say go into the shop if you are in the area because you can haggle a bit more !

I recently( 2 months ago) saw a good price for the Canon A75 for 149.99 on their website. The deal was to take the printout to the shop and they would honour it.

Hence went to Tot Court road and went to Dixons, ;)Oxford Street. Asked them to do a price match as the Ask shop was within 4 miles and I had printed proof.

Dixons were happy to do a price match and I got the stuff from Dixons. This was useful for me as I live close to a Currys superstore and can approach them if there is any problem. :)

I have purchased my laptop from Ask about 3 years ago. They cheated me on the laptop, in the sense that I was to get a certain sized bag as part of the bargain. They showed me the bag and while I waited for the machine, the manager took the bag away in the pretext of showing it to another customer. WHen the machine came, they came with another packed bag which was a smaller version.

I realized when I just left the shop and returned back, however they refused to take any of it and I was stuck with the bag. :-[

In summary, a good place for price but beware of small nifty tricks!!! :o

    cheers

  • have been a longtime regular visitor of their store in tottenham court road - they only started doing laptops about 2 years ago! In my experience, I've found some shop prices to be even lower then their internet prices, so definitley take in a print out from their website and ask for a deal! have just got a zen micro mp3 - it's cool- and they had big stocks whereas noboby else had the colour i wanted - they've usually got things in stock, so i always find this a big plus, and an excuse to keep going back!
