Oww 106 a month for car insurance. that is high, very high. when is your renewal?? shop around for quotes and go thru quidco.

How many are you feening on £200 a month?? YOu tv licence, phone is also high as is you gas and electricity.

on the whole tho you have £600 per month to throw at a £2300 overdraft. you should be able to clear is and with a little monitoring stay debt free.

the insurance is high as i have a car and my husband has a works van as hes self employed. Ive just changed my gas and elec over so hopefully this will come down in price and the phone works out at £11 mont for bt line rental and i use sky for free evening and w/end calls although very occasionally we need to use phone outside these times. We just always seem to be at the top end of our overdraught and it never gets paid off and i dont know why, something always crops up that we need to pay or something breaks like our washing machine recently and money has to be used for that. be cause my hubby is self employed and only recently stated the business we are not in constant work week to week.Im feeding myself, hubby and 3 kids on £200 month.

    Hi... my first thoughts were:
    okiegirl wrote: »
Telephone (land line)................... 50 - cut down, there's no need to make calls. I probably make 1 short phone call/month. Keep calls brief, call at cheap times.
Mobile phone............................ 40 - cut down/get off contract asap. Don't use it. I probably send one text/month, no contract, I pay £8/month
    TV Licence.............................. 44 - should be £12
Satellite/Cable TV...................... 36 - get rid. Freeview's got loads of channels
    Groceries etc. ......................... 200 - halve this
From the above, you should be able to make £200 savings/month.

    Hi, Okiegirl,
I wouldn't say £40 elec and £20 gas is a lot. I pay £57 a month gas and more or less the same for electric and theres only 2 of us.
Hubbie works nights and is bed during the day, and I work and come home at 6pm.

What puzzles me is how come you get so much in benefits when my husband works full time and earns less than that and he is on a decent wage?

Hope you get the answers you are looking for.

keep a spending diary. by the looks of it you are basically wasting £600 a month on something. keep the diary and write down everything you spend and then review at the end of the month. You may well be surprised at what you think you spend compared to what you actually do
