I need a bit of help please.

I need to buy a new tv as I had the really really old one where the zapper is bigger than the house phone (which is not saying much nowadays but basically it's about 8 inches long) So anyway I need to get a new one but the big problem is I'm on Income Support so I don't have much money at the best of times and the DLA is only offering me £300.

I have no idea what type of tv to get let alone how much it will cost or where to get it from so basically alot of help needed. The tv with me used for watching shows and movies as well as it being for a very big room. All help will be thanks with the thank system as well as saying thanks but I'm not the type of person that +thanks for nothing (which seems to happen a lot here)

EDIT: Oh and btw I mostly need it because of the switch over is happening here in a few months. This is the one I'm thinking of getting http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001001&langId=-1&searchTerms=5293386&Submit=GO+%3E

    Hi,

I'll see if I can help you out, but first I need to know a few things:

    1. You said you have a very big room. Is 22" big enough, or would you like bigger?
    2. Do you have a Freeview box?
    3. Do you prefer to buy online or on the high street (receipts for DLA etc.)?

    Regards,
    Miles.

"DLA is only offering me £300"

i recently did a bit of research and got my sister a acustic souloutions 32inc lcd tv with built in freeview for £350 from argos, its is a great tv, comes with one of those built in stand`s and is very good quality, i`ll try & find the link.

also can i ask about the money offered by the DLA, how are they offering you this money?

    thanks from claire :)

check out ebuyer, they seem to do good deals on tv's

as you say you have a big room i would go for a 32" for the money you have

    http://www.ebuyer.com/search/?intStoreID=73&intCatID=133&intSubcatUID=2353

or if 22" is enough i would put the £300 towards a better brad than acoustic solutions.

Hi all and thank you for your replys,
    • 1. You said you have a very big room. Is 22" big enough, or would you like bigger?
I would like bigger if I could get it but my old tv is about 19" and seems to be just right but too small sometimes.
    • 2. Do you have a Freeview box?
I have a sky + box now so I don't really want Freeview.
    • 3. Do you prefer to buy online or on the high street (receipts for DLA etc.)?
I would like to buy online but only from a place that I know will not rip me off, ie I will buy from Argos but not anywhere I have not dealt with before so basically high street names I will deal with.
    • also can i ask about the money offered by the DLA, how are they offering you this money?

I asked for a Budgeting Loan from them but because I still owe £50 they offered about £300 but I did the name wrong, it's DWP. lol

I have heard bad things about ebuyer and had some problems with them myself so sorry but I will not be using them but I might get a better brand than acoustic if one can be found in my price limit and without Freeview...

Edit: Oh and I don't need a stand for the tv as I have one that is abit better that holds alot of weigh.

Thank you for your reply, I guess I will go with them, Argos while I rarely use do tend to have good stuff and I have never had a problem with their CS so thank you I will get that from them.

Hi mandy, in my previous post i wasn't dissing acoustic solutions there good tvs for the money, i just though if you were going for a 22" tv then you could get a bit more well known brand for £300

i bought me mum an acoustic solutions 32" from argos for £300 and for the money its a cracking tv, looks good to with its piano gloss surround, when i have money myself it will be on the list for the next bedroom tv lol.

this is the one i got my mum, its £350 at the moment but it swaps between £300 and £350 every now and again.

here is the link to the same model but in 26" for £250

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5293276/Trail/C%24cip%3D1500011405.Sound%2Band%2Bvision%3EC%24cip%3D1500011489.Televisions%3EC%24cip%3D1500011494.26%2Binch%2BLCD%2BTVs%3EFC%24Brands%3DAcoustic+Solutions.Acoustic%2BSolutions.htm

i seen that the 26" version gets just as good reviews over at avforums.com as the 32".

Thanks and it did kinda seem like you was. lol I might get the 32" one even if it means using a bit of my own money and not the loans but if I can't I think I will get the 26", one way or the other I know what to get now. lol
