I signed up for this forum as i want to know if anyone has had or does have the same problem i do.
I have two outstanding debts on a Mint and RBS credit cards (amongst others). A few years ago i defaulted on the Mint card and RBS cancelled both credit agreements and left me with the debts on repayment plans.
It turns out that because i'm on repayment plans, on my credit file every month it classes as a "missed payment" even though i pay them the requested amount each month and haven't actually missed a payment in the last 3+ years.
If i do a smart search on the loans section on moneysupermarket my status is needs improving. Without missed payments it actually changes to good. Problem is no banks and loan companies will go near me with my "missed payments".
My overall aim is to consolidate all my debts into one monthly loan payment. My main reasons for this are that i'll be over £100 a month better off and have a guaranteed end date. With the cards at this rate i don't know when i'll get close to paying them off.
I don't know if anyone has ever tried to talk to the bank manager and explain their situation but it seems impossible. What the computer says goes. I don't believe that anyone who works for a bank has any power. I've certainly never met anyone with any nerve to listen to me and try to help.
