Can I get my beautiful briefs pink again!

Options
Please help! My husband has put my gorgeous NEW pink satin knickers in a dark wash. :wall: They are now lilac and don't match the bra any more. I could cry. I waited months for the Agent Provocateur sale so I could buy the set I really wanted and it's ruined already.

Is there anything I can do to get them back to colour? They're just sitting in a bowl of cold water, taunting me right now.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

  • Try those colour run thingies you can get from the supermarket. Not used them myself but I understand they do work. I think they may be little cloths you put in the machine. You find them in the laundry aisle.

It's not just your OH. Mr TM once (yes, once) put in a load of washing and put a new pink cardy of mine in with all the dark jeans and t-shirts. Came out a lovely grey! They think that because it's not white, then it mus be able to go in with the colors, not realising you further separate the colour sinto ike ones too !

Throw the bra in a dark wash and have a matching lilac set. :D

  • Not much help this time, but I find it useful to have a separate laundry bag for delicate/special items/handwashing. Make sure that OH knows that he is not to wash anything in that bag ON PAIN OF DEATH and your special undies will be safe!!! There are some beautiful, fancy 'Handwash' laundry bags in the shops but you could always make one yourself from an old pillowcase and a bit of ribbon.

Along the same lines as the previous poster, you could buy one of those cheap plastic small (approx 12" high) dustbins to store your undies in. They are sold in shops like Poundstretcher........for less than £5.

The advantage of a plastic container is that you can store lots of undies until you've got sufficient for one full load in the washing machine.......and being a small container, your partner won't be tempted to shove any large clothing items in it..........and without being too indelicate;) it will keep any nasty niffs airtight until wash time arrives.

Oh you poor thing :( ..I am a fellow sufferer of new pink knicks in a dark wash and know exactly the colour you mean.

I don't think that there's a way of restoring them to their proper colour but the colour run stuff from the supermarket in the red box DOES work but it strips out all of the colour so you'll probably end up with white undies. You could do this and then try to dye them (oh it's just not going to be worth it is it?)

Can you replace the knicks? will he pay for them?

I'm also an Agent Provocateur fan, was bought a bottle of the perfume (yum), left it on the kitchen worktop, it rolled off and smashed!! Got bought another one, took it to the gym..... it smashed in my bag!!! Now on bottle number three.
Just run, run and keep on running!

    Poor Jay_Jay.

I have a solution for your problem. Take a sheet of bubble wrap and cut a piece to size/fit your perfume bottle. Fold the sheet, sellotape two sides.... leaving one open edge. Pop the perfume bottle inside your bubble wrap pouch and place in your handbag.

  • I have used Colour Catchers to prevent disasters, you put them in with a mixed colour wash and they drink up all the loose dye and then come out coloured with whatever the colour was.

I've read it on here that they can be used in emergencies like yours and if this dark dye is still lose they will catch that too. Worth a try...... I think Jay-Jay is meaning something else because the ones I'm thinking off don't strip the colour, just catch it
