Although I agree with most of what has been said here I have to defend cream ! I don't think it is a particularly expensive luxury considering how versatile it is. It has gone up recently like all dairy products but half pint of double cream is still only about 80p and single is even less. OK, if you are really strapped for cash skip it but it isn't in the same league as biscotti, muller whatsits and manicures.

Having read through the thread before watching the clip i thought you were all being a bit mean.

After watching the clip i think you are all being too bloomin nice!!!!!

That woman is a lazy sod!

She doesnt seem to take anything to do with the food in the house, if she did her poor husband wouldnt have to trail to the supermarket every day as she would be writing a list, goinging once and that would be that. I think by 'nice' food she means ready meals! She wont want to take driving lessons for fear of acctually having to go to the supermarket herself. I couldnt believe the things she came out with!

She hasnt got a clue, has she!?!

just listened to it again and it was £170  he spent a couple of days ago before the latest top up. No way are they struggling to make ends meet.

Could she use a shopping trolley to get the family's food when her husband is away?

    I still think everyone's being mean. icon9.gif

There will be lots of people cutting back and adopting OS ways because of the downturn in the financial markets. Who are we to judge how people have behaved thus far? It's like the greenies who moan about people jumping on the eco bandwagon. Surely it doesn't matter as long as people are going to try. Everything is relative folks and just because people have not cut back as much as a hardcore OSer doesn't mean they're not heading in the right direction. ;) (IMHO) icon7.gif

If they're going to spend that much on bread they don't even like, you'd think they'd go for either the absolute cheapest or try looking in somewhere like a bakery / bake their own.

I do the rounds near closing time in Sainsburys and pick up a basketful of organic loaves for 30p each every month or so. I get all the loaves with seeds and other things in them. :D
