Thursday 29/05/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will:
  • Check online banking
  • Clicks
  • Make a loaf in breadmaker
  • Make a batch of yoghurt
  • Storecupboard lunch
  • Update budgets and spreadsheets
  • Shred a load of financial papers
Have a good day everyone.

    Morning,

Payday for me today (it seemed a really long month), so I have/will do:
    • done a spreadsheet showing what needs to be paid, and moved excess to my savings account (much better rate of interest)
    • worked out how much 'pocket money' I have each day this month, and it is £1.79! :T
    • done my clicks
    • will go and make a sandwich for lunch, to go with my stripy crisps
    • will read my book at lunchtime, (and resist going to buy a magazine)
Think thats about it, will update if there is anything else.

    Have a great day

    Ebay Ebay Ebay!

Been saving up magazines from £1 for 3 issues deals, so I have a couple of Marie Claires and Glamours to read on the train to Bristol tonight (going to see my folks). Then at home for a couple of days so hopefully shouldn't spend too much.

And this is the biggie - paying off a £1031 debt today! Managed to agree a final settlement of £825 so I'm really pleased :)

Have a look on hostelworld.com - they mainly do hostels, but there are budget hotels on there if you use the advanced search.

    I have:
    • Checked banking and shuffled money into savings account to cover the DDs on the 1st. I had to "borrow" some out of there yesterday as I had an unexpected spend :o but its back where it belongs today!
    • Entered a comp to win a holiday.
    • Looked for mystery shops - none.
    And I will:
    • [STRIKE]Do washing on quickwash and hopefully line dry, failing that it will go on the airers.[/STRIKE] Yay got in before it rained :j
    • [strike]Do PB CT and comps.[/strike]
    • [strike]Update spreadsheet and then update sig with new amounts.[/strike]
    • [STRIKE]Meals from stores.[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Walk to diet club and back, saving petrol.[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Sort out lunchbox items to take on long journey tomorrow.[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Have stern words with self about June challenges, totally lost the plot in may :o:o:o[/STRIKE] Joined £10 a day and will rejoin grocery challenge.
Think thats it, will update through the day, have a good one everyone :)

    Morning All :hello:
I set myself the challenge yesterday of walking to work each day, and Day 1 I can report I have failed :( Major panic over the non-arrival of OH's money means that I must rush into town at lunchtime and carry bundles of used notes between one bank and another or risk exceeding my overdraft. The return journey to be done tomorrow.....

In spite of that failure I will/have today:
    • done on-line banking (hence lunchtimes mad dash)
    • brought my own lunch to work
    • try free bingo tonight
    • list some more on e-bay too
Have a good one - though posting this has been interrupted by work and it is now the afternoon :rotfl:
  • Hi All

Well not a massive NSD for me today (i havent spent any money in reality anyway, although my ideas squash that right away)

I am charging my phone at work
Brought lunch from home (surplus from last nights dinner)
    not brought wallet to work.

Had a decent nights sleep last night, which makes me more alive today, and i fancy shopping, so maybe thats the trick, stay up to silly o'clock and then suffer the following day (i didnt want to spend at all then)

    Keep it up guys
