Facial Mole-advice on removal

Hello,
My sister has been increasingly upset recently. A small freckle on her face has appeared to grow. It looks like a spot with a brown head on it.
She has been to the doctor who has reassured her that it is not nor ever will be a melanoma.
However, she is increasingly self conscious of it and wants to have it removed. As this is 'cosmetic', she is worried it may be really expensive (she is a student).
We live in the manchester area.....can anyone recommend a place to have this done and the approx price?
Please offer any advice.....she really is becoming desperate and i am afraid that she might rush into something that could leave her with a nasty scar.
Thanks

How large is it and how raised? It depends where it is. I have had moles cut off and then burnt to quarterise. They scar, and the mole pigment comes back (flat). I wouldn't do this on my face. Cindy crawford never had her's removed!0

Really worried, because she is becoming increasingly paranoid of it!
If it's affecting her general welfare, isn't it free?
I know it used to be.0 -
I had a mole cut off on my arm & that was just done at the doc's surgery. However, like someone else mentioned, it did leave a scar so would not recommend this on the face (although it may have been the way my doc did it - not sure?). Did the doctor not try & help in any way with any suggestions?0

I meant to ask the same question Loopylou
I'd have thought the OP's sister should have been referred to a skin specialist?
My daughter was, for a mole on her back, and we ended up paying for the treatment.
I can't remember the cost, but remember it being very expensive. It was worth it for the peace of mind though.0 -
As we're not supposed to ask for or offer medical advice on this board.....I would suggest that her GP is the only safe place to get medical advice.
She might find that she is suitable for NHS plastic surgery to remove the mole on her face, but she will have to consult her GP first.;)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the 'I wanna' and 'In my home' and Health & Beauty'' boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. As Nile has said this board is not for medical advice, I appreciate the original poster was not asking specificall for that but as this is where it is heading I am going to close the thread.
An explanation on what the health board is for is here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=310909&postcount=1
