Advice on old stain on white dress please

Hi
I have a friend who has the following problem (her bits are in blue) and said I'd ask your advice.
I have a white dress which has been sitting in a box in the loft for some years. I have recently retrieved it as someone might have a use for it.
Unfortunately I found that there is a small stain in it - possibly something like coffee.
I've tried various stain removers, but while it seems to have become a bit paler it's still there - and it's at the front so not easy to hide.
Has anyone got any magic tricks for removing old stains?
I guess I could always dye the dress... but I'd prefer to keep it white if at all possible.
Any advice most gratefully received!
On asking whether it was manmade or natural fabric...
Good question. Mum made it, and she can't remember (it was a few years
ago...). It has the feel of cotton-and-something.
I've already suggested she try soda crystals and hanging in bright sunlight (however that's in very short supply at the moment:rolleyes: ) - I haven't yet suggested lemon juice+sunlight or v. weak bleach as I don't know what the fabric is.......and how it might react - does anyone have any experience of these - good or bad.....
Not sure what stain removers she's already tried but I can ask.
Can anyone think of anything else to try.......
Thanks

You could try rubbing a little bit of baby shampoo on the wetted stain?"This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0
